I'm new to LJ, looking for a few friends since I'm all on my own. I'm 19, working my way towards college. I've been out of high school for about two years now, and have decided that enough is enough: time to get back to the grindstone. With that resolution, I'm heading off to higher education. My career goal is to become a teacher.
My journal will mostly be slices of life, little updates on school or business or personal things. I'll probably throw in a book review (I read as much as possible) or a few songs from my latest band-of-choice every now and then. I have a tendency to scribble and write, and it's semi-likely that it'll overflow into my journal. If it does, just pat me on the head and tell me "it's terrible, try harder" and I'll be fine. I will go ahead and tell you that I'm not a very interesting person, so if you demand that your online friends have lives not unlike John McClane or Jack Bower, you'd best keep scrolling.
I will try to comment on your entries, I swear. But please understand that if I have nothing to say, I'm not going to say anything. I will read every entry you post, but please don't take the occasional silence from me the wrong way. The same in reverse: I don't expect you to flood my entries with comments either, and I won't lose sleep if you don't drool internet lovespittle all over me in bouts of undying affection on a regular basis. Comment as you like, when you like, however you see fit.
If you're offended by strong language, dark or off-color humor, views that don't necessarily correspond with your own, or the occasional sacrilegious quip, please keep scrolling. Also note that I'm not a fan of drama. I don't particularly want to hear about your teenage angst or your relationship woes (or the hormonal stars in your eyes, for that matter). I understand that people rant and sh!t happens, and I have no problem with that; by all means, let it out. But just know that if the weeping and gnashing of teeth is your only song and dance, I'm not likely to cuddle up with you and share my cocoa.
I love good music and good books (and I'm always open to new suggestions). Some of my favorite bands are Frightened Rabbit, Bishop Allen, Ars Arcana, Skillet, Alestorm, The Atomic Fireballs, The Tossers, Ludo... the list goes on ad infinitum. I like reading science/fantasy fiction, horror novels and fiction with religious elements (such as "I, Lucifer" or "Good Omens"). I love warm blankets, waffles and scary movies. Writing is my creative outlet of choice and I'd probably spend all day clicking away at the keyboard if I thought I could make a living off it. I believe humor is the cure for everything, except perhaps gangrene. Pirates are without any doubt better than ninjas. Pillows are the best things humans ever created; chick flicks are likely the worst. I'd love to make some friends here, share a few lives and a few laughs. So if you think you can tolerate me, won't you go ahead and add me? :)
