I recently created this account, after deciding my old one was dead. I've got a tiny friends list, and I'd love to see what other people are up to, as well as have a little more motivation to post more often, because it's so sporadic right now.
I have a really hard time describing myself, so this might be hard. I'm a 21 year old gal, living in Southern California. A college dropout as of last semester. I kind of realized I have absolutely no idea what I want in life, and didn't feel like wasting money on a degree that wouldn't do me any good. I spend most of my time trying to find a job. It's not going so great, and that's giving me some serious anxiety, but I'm really trying to be optimistic. Once I get a job, I'll be able to move in with my boyfriend, so I can get out of my Dad's place, and he can get away from roommates we both cannot stand. I'm incredibly liberal, and fascinated with politics. Open-minded, but I know I can be stubborn sometimes. It's something I'm working on. I can roll out a quote from The Simpsons to meet any occasion. I took French in high school, because it seemed more romantic and exciting. Turns out I'm terrible at it, but I tried. I love love love books. I think I'm funny, but it's debatable. I'm not great at making friends IRL, because I'm so shy when I first meet people.
I obsess over (in no particular order):
TV The Office (US), 30 Rock, Arrested Development, The Daily Show, It's Always Sunny, Law & Order, Mad Men, The Soup, Flight of the Conchords, Kids in the Hall, Project Runway, Doctor Who (with David Tennant).
Movies Tarantino, John Waters, John Hughes, Christopher Guest. Almost Famous, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, Hedwig & the Angry Inch, Quills, The Thin Man, Superbad, Some Like It Hot, The Commitments, The Baxter, Goodfellas, Watchmen, Rocknrolla.
Books Chuck Palahniuk, Oscar Wilde, Sarah Vowell. Harry Potter, Kushiel's Dart (etc.), the Gemma Doyle trilogy, Prep, Looking For Alaska, I Capture the Castle, Rebecca, Reading Lolita in Tehran, Special Topics in Calamity Physics, The Great Gatsby, The Wicked Enchantment, The Crucible, Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, Everything is Illuminated, and a million more.
Music Ted Leo & the Pharmacists, Ray LaMontagne, Spoon, The Decemberists, Damien Rice, The Broken Family Band, Cold War Kids, Say Anything, We Are Scientists, Ane Brun, Atmosphere, Regina Spektor, Talking Heads, The Clash, Cock Sparrer, Marilyn Monroe, anything that sounds like a 1960's cocktail party.
Miscellaneous Alternative comedy, Shoebox Project, Collegehumor, Kate Beaton, Dr. McNinja, Cute Boys Make Me Nervous, Sorry I Missed Your Party, STFU Parents, What Would Tyler Durdan Do, Brotherhood 2.0/Nerdfighters, MSNBC, Old Hollywood, Boys who look good in suits, attempting to write fanfic, but I'm super shy about sharing it.
People I'd love as a friend: People in other parts of the world, I'm fascinated by travel, and my main goal in life is to find a job that would allow me to make enough money to visit all the places I want. People who write fic or can recommend good ones, because as an unemployed college dropout, I've got a ton of time on my hands. People with a sense of humor. People feeling just as lost as I am.
People I'm not so keen on: People who are obsessive over Twilight (It brings out my feminist rage). People who are ultra-conservative, I'm open to hearing others opinions, I just don't want them yelled at me. People who make no attempt to spell things correctly or use improper grammar. Anyone who discriminates against others.
Aaand that was way longer than I originally intended. If you got through it all, thanks!
