My name is Rebecca, or Becca. Or whatever other kind of name you come up for me. I'm 23-years-old and I probably did the bravest thing of my life recently by up and quitting my job and moving from Fort Worth, TX to La Porte, TX. What brought me to this Gulf Coast town that almost no one but for those who live here have heard of? My girlfriend Kristina. We've only been dating for 6 months, but the LDR thing wasn't working for either of us. I have no car which made it harder for me to visit her, and the car she is (84 El Camino, baby) gets a little iffy on long-distance drives. We decided it was still too soon for us to live together so I live with one of her friends and another roommate just a few blocks away.
I have two jobs. One is an online job with Leapforce, I'm an independent contractor for them as a Search Engine Evaluator. It's pretty simple, really, I rate search engine results based on their relativity to the query issued by the user. My second job I don't even start until tomorrow (the 9th of August). I was just hired on at Kohl's as a part-time Sales Floor Associate. I'm very excited about this one as I've wanted to work at Kohl's for I don't know how long. I'm one of those weirdos that really enjoys clothing retail.
My interest in books, movies and music is pretty open and all over the place. At heart, I will always be a long-time lover of Rocky Horror. I've even got Frank-N-Furter's tattoo on my right arm. Going to RHPS shadow cast shows was a big part of what made the young adult that I am today. It helped me break out of my shell, explore new things, realize that I wasn't ugly, that I'm awesome that anyone and everyone can be accepted, even if they are a little weird.... or have odd sexual preferences (I suppose I should have taken that as a clue that I'd eventually fall in love with a woman, huh?).
There are some forms of music that I don't totally see myself digging, but my taste is all over the place and one day I could be listening to Amanda Palmer, the next I could be listening to Crossfade or even take it back a little and listen to some Backstreet Boys (don't hate!!). I'm always open to new things and love finding musical soul mates. I used to play trumpet in marching band, so I've got a bit of a taste for classical music as well.
I've slowly been easing myself back into the world of books. I think I will always have a love for certain YA authors, but I'm up for exploring anyone and everyone. Currently, I'm almost finished reading The Hunger Games. I also started The Book of Lost Things, and am almost finished with American Gods by Neil Gaiman.
There's so much more about me and really not quite enough space on the interweb to tell the Tale of Tasteless Love and Stale Club Smells that is me. I know I've only got one entry on my journal now, but don't let that scare you off. There's so much more about me. And I promise I won't disappoint!
