ANYWAY. Some things about me now:
I am: 23 (for another three weeks), some kind of queer something (pretty sure that's like a prerequisite for having a livejournal anymore), monogamously married (it's cute, but I don't talk about it too much because wow are the details of married life boring), currently living in Saint Louis, MO, possessed of a wide and varied range of mental and social quirks and charming defects (after about five minutes of me you will think I'm a fascinating and enigmatic free spirit OR that I am frighteningly odd--you will want to hug me forever and have me tell you bedtime stories or you will want to first walk quickly in an opposing direction and then cautiously avoid me in any and all future situations). I am also a big fan of parenthetical digression (if you couldn't tell).
I like: music, books, tea and teapots, cats, fanfiction, long walks, storytelling, poetry, science (particularly geology and astronomy, burgeoning interest in information and data, in a long fight to overcome my apparently innate fear and distrust of mathematics and, if we're being honest, numbers in general), miniatures, letter-writing, linguistics, sex (like in a science way, seriously, is how i mean that, but you know, other ways also) and making obscenely elaborate plans for many aspects of my day-to-day life.
I work for a big box hardware store, it's supremely unfulfilling but it does the trick as far as putting money into the bank account. I barely finished high school, sort of went to college, and am currently undertaking to delude myself into thinking that someday I will have some kind of degree.
I'm biracial, in an interracial marriage and am inclined to discuss this from time to time because it sets the scene for a lot of ridiculous behavior on the part of other people.
Things I Have Loved In A More Than Passing Manner:
Musically speaking: Phil Ochs, Chromeo, Bright Eyes, Xiu Xiu, Anders Parker, Regina Spektor, almost any kind of showtune, Wham!, David Dondero, Sigur Ros (sorry, can't be bothered faffing about with diacritics today), Bjork, Ratatat, sea shanties and other folk music (special soft spot for Quebecois anything), et cetera.
In terms of authors/books/genres: Murakami, Tim Powers, Michael Chabon, The Magicians, David Sedaris, Harry Potter, secret histories, magical realism, books that combine science and story, memoirs of actually interesting people, books with excessive footnotes, Pynchon (I have a Pynchon-related tattoo, three guesses of what)
Television: Battlestar Galactica (the new one), Star Trek (all of 'em), Sherlock, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Doctor Who (any and all doctors though I have a place in my heart specifically reserved for Nine as my crush on Christopher Eccleston's nose is unrelenting), Torchwood, Game of Thrones, terrible "reality" shows from Discovery and the History Channel and others of that ilk
Film: My Beautiful Laundrette, The Secret of Kells, the RDJ Sherlock Holmes movies, Sabrina, Mulan, documentaries about space, documentaries in general
For fannish types: Gundam Wing took my fandom virginity, I am in a long-term open relationship with Harry Potter, casually seeing Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who, recently have been out and about with Sherlock (we're getting along swimmingly), sending occasional flirty texts to a few others but nothing too serious, am open-minded about meeting more as there is always space on my dance card. I read mostly slash, have been known to like sickening romance, won't say no to straight-up porn if it's good, weaknesses for political intrigue and complex plots but really it's all fine.
Caveat lector: I am occasionally foul-mouthed, sometimes write about the subjects of race/religion/politics/sexuality very frankly, tend to get obsessed with science-y things, enjoy words far too much, am learning Icelandic and may every now and again practice at you to be impressive, talk about my cats, etc. If any of this would offend, annoy or disturb you, we may not make great pals.
TL;DR? Yeah, me too. 23, mixed, queer, married, nerdy, fangirl, slacker, likes books, weird music, space, can be alarming, mostly harmless.
