Hi, my name is Jean. I’ve had LJ accounts before but have recently returned and made a new journal after a long break, and most of my old LJ friends have moved on to other sites. I don’t have a lot of friends still around where I live, either, so I’m hoping to make new friends.

  • Age: 25

  • Occupation: Social Media Marketing/Event Coordination

  • Location: California

  • Bad at talking myself up, better at making lists.

  • I’m an older sister, with one younger brother.

  • Talking to people makes me anxious sometimes. You know how sometimes if you start thinking about dumb little things like eye contact it stops feeling natural and you don’t know what to do, but you can’t stop thinking about it? Like that. Only bigger.

  • I have a girlfriend, and she’s currently in England working on her Master’s degree. So proud, but I can’t wait for her next visit home because I miss her tons.

  • I’ve attended a once a week meditation class since October, but it’s been a struggle trying to set up a practice and get in the habit of doing it regularly on my own. I want to get better at it than occasionally trying it once a week.

  • Most of the books I’ve read in the past several years have been audiobooks, first because I had a mindless 9-5 job essentially alone in a kitchen all day and now because I have a 40 minute commute to work. I just recently finished the Hunger Game series, and wow.

  • I hate being cold. This is why California is great — we basically don’t have weather here.

  • The hardcopy book I currently have in my purse to read over lunch breaks is Sabriel by Garth Nix. I’ve previously listened to it (read by Tim Curry), or I wouldn’t know how to pronounce a lot of the names.

  • My favorite color is blue and my favorite beverage is just about any kind of black tea, with honey.

  • I’m an atheist, but to each their own.

  • My girlfriend is an experienced dog person, which is excellent because I definitely want puppies and she can back me up on the parts of obedience training where I would otherwise be a great big softie. I like cats too, but you can’t train a cat the same way and if you pick a kitten who turns out to have a crotchety personality there’s little that can be done.

  • I do have a vague interest in some fandoms still, and I have a tumblr RP account for an original character that I play around with on and off. I feel like it’s a good writing exercise, and character development is really fun. It gives me something to keep writing in between bouts of apathy towards my completely original writing.

  • My memory for details is kind of bad, which means that discussions and debate, especially in spoken conversation, are a real weak point for me that I want to work on. On the other hand, it takes a relatively short time to burn song lyrics into my brain forever, which is a mixed bag.

  • Well, that got longer and more rambly than I meant. But if we have things in common or if you think any of that could spark a good conversation or something, feel free to add me. :)

    • happy spooky month!
