I'm really new to LJ (just joined in May) and a friend of mine suggested joining this community. I'm 35 years old, married to a wonderful, supportive hubby and mom to two beautiful feline daughters, Salem and Inari. I am currently working part time at the college I attend while working on my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a concentration in Wildlife and Environmental Biology.
I started my journal to document my crafting obsession. I enjoy crochet and jewelry making.
Right now I am working on a temperature afghan (based on the high temps each day for my town). I love to make catnip toys too, but typically shapes that are NOT found in stores (voodoo dolls, pumpkins, candy corn, cupcakes, dragons....and am working on some pop culture including Dr. Who, Harry Potter, and Big Hero 6).
The jewelry I make is typically either chainmaille or scalemaille but in colors. I specifically started using patriotic red, white (really silver) and blue because I could not find any good earrings that weren't wicked cheap.
I also have recently started cosplaying and am working on finishing my steampunk Tardis costume which I was thrilled to have Alex Kingston photographed with me and she told me that she absolutely loved the costume! Yes that was a TOTAL sqweee moment. I hope to have all my additions done in time for the Boston Comic Con and get a pic with John Barrowman too! Hopefully I'll remember to get pics up as it progresses. This has also gotten me hooked on making my own costumes so I will most likely be posting pics of their progression too. (I have a WHOLE list of ideas for costumes...yikes)
