the name is lauren.

originally from orlando, but attending college in atlanta. first time away from home really; eighteen.

i've had an lj for two years or so now, and started writing as an alternative coping mechanism to self-mutilation. the majority of my posts center around family troubles, my piercing obsession, feelings of depression, sex and relationships, fears, school, inebriated times and the future. i don't want to paint a bleak picture of myself though, so do know that for the most part i am a very content individual. i'm largely outgoing and friendly and love having crazy adventures, but as every blogger knows, you're so much more motivated to write during the bad times than the good. i'm generally a pretty consistent writer, but took a month and a half or so off because things were going so well i had almost no need to write. hah. but with things complicated again, here i am. it was also a new years resolution of mine to write at least once a week- oops. i'd like to really try and fulfill that though. i guess above all, i'm looking for people to communicate and dialogue with, for people who can offer advice or want if offered back. and let's face it- who wouldn't want to peer into someone else's innermost thoughts?

Hi! My name is Caitlin and I enjoy really crispy bacon on sunny days, and cooking. I got engaged on the 20th of December 2009 to the man of my dreams and just found out I was pregnant on the 1st of Febuary. The baby will be my first and his second, as he already has a child from a previous long term never married relationship. I love my soon to be step daughter dearly, and she is a doll. She is 3. I try to post as much as I can, but I have been lacking on it lately. In the recent months after getting engaged I lost one of two of my best friends for 5 years, because she has her own issues that I guess she needs to deal with. But during the summer and fall of this past year, with her basically ignoring me, I became better friends with Eliza, and Marya, two of my closest gal pals. I work at Best Buy and I do everything under the sun there. I sometimes really like my job and sometimes really hate it. I love reading peoples journals. I love baking, cooking, doing housework, and my chihuahua Kahlua. I am extremely close to my dad and my grandmother.

So thats basically me, and I would really love some new friends. Feel free to add me! Or ask me any questions :)

this might be a weirdly specific post

Okay, so a little while ago, I wrote in my journal about how me and my friends had just had a night of drunk karaoke, and how one of my favorite songs to sing is "Careless Whispers" from WHAM! because it's so fucking funny, especially that part where you kinda scream "PLEASE STAYYY!!" And then I decided I wanted to watch some old wham videos for the lols, and found this nugget:

ok, now I thought this video was loltastic. So I wrote: "OMG IT MAY BE THE STUPIDEST THING I'VE SEEN ALL WEEK. And that includes a tea cup yorkshire terrier with a piece of shit hanging out its butthole being chased by a toddler at the park. HHA omg, I mean, I've never watched these twilight movies... But this video? HOLY CRAP it's like the video love letter of a 15 year old nerdy virgin girl to the Nickelback-loving douche of her dreams. HOMIGOD THE MUSIC. lols, WHO thought this cover was a good idea?"

The thing is? Hardly anyone on my flist thought this was as hilarious as I did. Disappointment abounds. Now, I love my flist, but I really need to have some people who watched this and couldn't stop lolling, the song is SO FUCKING HORRIBLE. I don't think I'm a mean-spirited person, but I do like to laugh at dumbass shit, and in my mind, this certainly qualifies.

Other things I like in an lj-friend:
  • You're over 21.
  • You update regularly about your daily life in an amusing manner. And that means you give enough details for me to follow along, but not so many details that I feel like I'm reading your diary.
  • You enjoy comments. This is key for me. I like to give and receive comments. I know not everyone does, and that's cool for them. But for me? I love having nice comment convos with my friends.
  • You're educated without being a douche.
  • You can poke fun of and laugh at the absurdities of life without being a bitch.
  • You can laugh at yourself.

My journal's mainly locked, but there are some public entries if you'd like to take a look and see what I normally post about.
