My name is Erika, I'm nearly 22 and from Pittsburgh. Just looking to meet and get to know some new people! :)
I'm something of a sporadic poster, and I don't comment on everything everyone posts because sometimes I just have nothing to say, but I do read everyone's posts and I typically find something to say in my own LJ at least once a week or so. I like taking pictures, and though I don't have any professional equipment and I'm not a master at it, I do take fairly good photos when the planets align correctly, and I just do it for fun at any rate. A lot of my posts might have pictures or video, so if you like photography and sharing pictures, we'll get along fine :)
I love reading, and have a growing collection of vintage books. I don't know what started it, but I love finding old books- I have a bunch from the 19th Century, and looking for more. Old books just seem to have more soul to them, if that makes the slightest bit of sense. xD My favorite genres are horror, sci-fi and philosophy, and favorite authors include Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Stephen King, Khalil Gibran, H.P. Lovecraft, and many more.
Musically I go across the board, the only thing I don't really like is rap. I love blues music and classic rock, and have a soft spot for classical piano. I also love techno! xD Favorite bands/artists: The Doors, The Beatles, Queen, They Might Be Giants, Erik Satie, The White Stripes, System of a Down, Cruxshadows, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, VNV Nation, Fleet Foxes and Oingo Boingo.
I'm fascinated by religion, culture, history and philosophy. I love learning new things about any of them, and actually planned on majoring in religious studies before I found out there's pretty much nothing you can do with that degree. I am a spiritual person who's still in the midst of their journey, figuring out who they are and where they really belong. My religious beliefs are somewhat eclectic, combining traditional practices of my Nation(Ojibwe) with Catholicism and traditional rootwork. I have both glowingly positive and scathingly negative things to say about certain religions and beliefs, so if you're particularly faithful to a certain belief system, or particularly hate one, I might drive you crazy on occasion.
To prevent me from rambling on and turning this into a novel, add me if: you like all kinds of music and movies, like photography and picture-posts, like art, reading, philosophy, religion and the like, are open-minded, don't take yourself too seriously, like Sherlock, Doctor Who or Criminal Minds, and just having fun. :) I hope to get to know some of you!
