(no subject)

Going to keep this (uncharacteristically) brief, because I'm tired - and I'm moving TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY the day after tomorrow, and still have so much to sort out, so should probably be expending the very little energy I have left on that!!

I'm a 19 year old girl, currently living in the Northwest of England - near Liverpool - but now scarily close to moving to St Andrew's, Scotland, where I've enrolled on a four year MA course with Honours in Philosophy; I haven't formally chosen my other two subjects yet, but am looking at doing History and, er, probably either English Literature or a foreign language of some kind...(why, yes, I do have to decide this within the next 4 days - I'm indecisive, okay?!). I've recently done A levels in Philosophy, Psychology and History - I also did an AS level in Sociology this past year, which I really enjoyed, and AS English the year before last which was, er, a bit of a nightmare, actually. The less said about that the better. *shudders*

Er, what else? Bisexual, atheist, vegetarian, horrendously socially awkward. I love reading, writing, climbing, swimming, trawling through art galleries and museums, sitting in cafés for hours on end, crying over fictional characters and generally finding new, inventive and increasingly useless ways to procrastinate. I'm half-homebody, half-adventurer, half-hard worker, half-layabout and half-happy-stable-person, half-over-emotional-teenager-perpetually-in-the-throes-of-a-mental-breakdown. It's a confusing life I lead.

I'm not sure what else to write about, so I think I'm just going to steal one of those survey thingies and hope for the best!

Name: Lorna
Sex: Female
Age: 19
Birthday: 9th July
Location: Northwest England - for 2 MORE DAYS!!! Then BLOODY SCOTLAND.
Who are your favourite bands/singers?: Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters and Men, One Direction, Taylor Swift, The Smiths, Fun., Kacey Musgraves, Royal Republic, 30 Seconds to Mars, Ed Sheeran, Passenger, Bastille, The Lumineers, My Chemical Romance, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Bright Eyes, Daughter, Imagine Dragons, Marina and the Diamonds, Lana Del Rey, Lady Antebellum...could probably go on for about 7 years, but I'll leave it there I think!
Favorite Books: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, everything Kate Atkinson has ever written (but especially Behind the Scenes at the Museum), The Fault in Our Stars (and Paper Towns and Looking for Alaska - I'm yet to read any other John Green books, though I should really get on that! - but TFIOS is just extra special), the Harry Potter series, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Jane Eyre, The Great Gatsby, Bridget Jones' Diary, the Hunger Games trilogy and the Confessions of a Shopaholic series.
Favorite Movie: Again, Perks beats all...also Hairspray, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows P2, The Others, The Uninvited, An Education, Bridget Jones' Diary (I know I'm repeating myself a lot, aha - I haven't seen all that many films in ~the grand scheme of things, and when I do see them it's very often because I liked the book...), The Wizard of Oz (!!!! that movie is my childhood), The Notebook, Submarine...
Favorite T.V. Shows: I was hugely obsessed with Skins and, to a slightly lesser extent, Gossip Girl for years, so still got special places in my heart for them despite the fact that both kind of went to shit in their last series (the number 6 must be unlucky or something!?). Current favourites, though (some of which I'm not yet up to date on!) - Supernatural, Miranda, Sherlock, Criminal Minds, Revenge, My Mad Fat Diary, How I Met Your Mother, Scrubs...and Friends. Always, always Friends.

I don't have all that many friends on here, and those I do have aren't all that active anymore, so it'd be lovely to meet new people!! I mostly just write about my life (/whinge, though I like to think I do that at least a little less than I used to) - this year has been pretty crazy busy and it's only going to get crazier after I start uni, so while I might not have all that much time to write at first, I will be hopefully updating a lot more in future and would love to have people to share that with, as well as getting to read about more people's lives - not necessarily people with anything in particular in common with me, or with any particular features! I'm interested in everyone. :)

I am 22 years old. I'm a full-time student and workaholic, and it nearly killed me. I've recently decided to change my major from English to psychology, even though I was finally making headway on my degree. But I had the sort of epiphany that can only come from hitting rock bottom. I hear LJ is a dying breed, but I am no longer into the quick blurbs, pretty pictures, and minimalist layouts tumblr offers, I'm craving a bit more substance.

My life is complicated, but I'll stick to the basics.

I am a Christian, and my faith colors every aspect of my life. If faith has taught me anything, it's that God is there for me even when I don't see a way out. It's actually made me believe less in the possibility of being a "happy shiny person", but more that someone is there to intercede for me. Just thought I'd get that out before anyone read too much further, assume accordingly ;).

I am a coffee addict, and it's been like, 8 days since I've had espresso and I'm pretty proud. I've ran in two 5k's although I absolutely suck at running--it's still fun, and that's what matters. I have a dry sense of humor, but I love to laugh at the simple things. My favorite moments are when the sun is shining and I just open my eyes real wide and smile and think, "oh my God, I'm alive."

Books: here is my goodreads profile. I really love dystopia, and fiction in general.
Music: here is my
^ My picture can also be found at the aforementioned places, like that matters.
TV: Criminal Minds, The Walking Dead (I also read the comics), SVU, True Blood (even though it's not very campy and awesome anymore!), Misfits.

My journal is just where I vent, really. I talk a lot about everyday things, deeply personal things, and nothing at all. If you add me I'd appreciate it if you comment here, as I have non-friends commenting disabled on my journal due to one of those "deeply personal things."
