Angry: Eating hearts

(no subject)

I'm procrastinating horribly on the piles of homework I have to do, so here I am!

I'm Rachel, 23 years old, currently working on my Masters in Public Health and bartending/waiting tables on the side. I love animals and volunteer once a week at a shelter, where I'm a shift leader in the dog kennels. I'm an avid book-lover and recently bought a third bookcase for my bedroom because I have a serious book hoarding problem. I also enjoy craft beer (nothing too hoppy, though!), going to (mostly jam band) concerts, and hiking.

My journal is mostly just me rambling about my day-to-day life. However I recently got back from a month-long thru-hike of the Long Trail in Vermont so I've been posting occasionally about that, as it was definitely a life-changing trip. I generally read all the entries on my friends page, but if I have nothing to say, I won't comment (and I don't expect comments on any of my entries either). I'm open to being friends with pretty much anyone, so comment, tell me a little something about you, & let's read each other's journals.

About Me:
Name: Lisa
Age: 31
Residence: A typical Wisconsin apartment
Marital Status: Single and torn between wanting a relationship and wanting to stay single
Children: None, though I would like to adopt someday.
-I used to have a cat named Morgan, but I had to rehome her due to moving last year
-9 gerbils. I started out with two "females" but I was given a male by mistake and ended up having 7 babies.
Occupation: Artist and ghost hunter

-My journal is friends only, but feel free to add.
-It doesn't matter if you're an active journal user or not
-I'm not fickle with comments. If you wish to, go ahead, but if you don't, that's fine too.
-I don't mind if you don't update your journals for months on end. I understand that life gets in the way of updating and that you may need to go on some kind of hiatus... it's okay.
-However, drama is not okay. If you're here to judge people with disabilities, people who are gay or lesbian or start fights regarding religion or politics, you will be banned immediately.
-My journal is not a positive place as I struggle with mood disorders and other personal issues. If you came here looking for positivity, don't expect too much out of me, at least not right now or the next few years.
-I ended a very toxic friendship with someone 3 years ago and I'm still having problems with this person to this very day... I'm really trying to post about that less often or vent behind private entries, but this person is a trigger to my anger issues and I may feel an overwhelming need to vent from time to time.

More about me:

-I am a Christian, but I am by no means a bible thumper.

-I am straight, but I support gay and lesbian rights for the sake of my friends and family.

-I am a huge fan of tolerance. It doesn't matter if you're gay, straight, religious or athiest. I don't care where you came from or what color of skin you have. If you're nice to me, I'll be nice to you and if I feel I can trust you, I'll even be your friend. That's all what matters to me.

-I am pro choice, simply because it is none of my business to control another woman's decision in her life and it is not my place to judge her for it either.

-I am for the 2nd amendment, but it needs to be regulated to keep guns out of the hands of people who kill people, just like the way how our founding fathers intended it to be.

-I am a democrat, but I have a very liberal way of thinking and I tend to see things from both sides.

-My mother left me and my dad when I was ten years old and just abandoned me completely by the time I was 14 years old. I never saw her again until October 2012. At first I was more than willing to forgive her and give her another chance to be a part of my life again, but she threw that opportunity away and didn't do her part to repair what was lost. She expected me to call her and write to her all the time as if this whole thing was my fault and in the end, she abandoned me again. Now I'm struggling to cope with new feelings of resentment and I have a very difficult time forgiving her for all that she has put me through...

-I grew up as an only child but I have a half brother named Kurt and 3 stepsisters.

-I am an aunt to two nieces: Rachel and Olivia

-I struggle with several disabilities and mood disorders:
-Fetal alcohol syndrome
-Post traumatic distress
-Anger issues
-Social anxiety. I have a few close friends, but I have a hard time meeting people and making friends after being picked on relentlessly for having a speech impediment or end up being rejected because of it... so social anxiety is the end result.
-Possible PMDD, which is a hormonal mood disorder for women
-I have a form of dyslexia, which is a severe learning disability with math comprehension.
-I struggle with suicidal thoughts. No matter how many times I contemplate it, I could never act out on it thinking how much it would hurt my family and friends. Besides, I want to see what life has in store for me. Life can't be bad forever... right?
-Despite the fact I suffer from these things, I don't engage in self harm. I just mainly vent in journals, usually behind private entries.

-I love my family but I'm glad to be distant from them.

-I was born with the gift of prophecy, which enables me to have visions of events that will soon take place in the world or those around me. Most of the time, I'm right. Expect random entries of visions i may have too.

-I never got into partying, clubbing, drugs, or alcohol. My mother already ruined my life with her alcohol abuse before I was even born and I didn't see a point to make my problems worse than what they already are... At least the family cycle of alcohol abuse will end with me.

-My favorite holiday is Christmas. My least favorite holiday is Valentine's Day.

-I love thrift shopping. Every now and then I post photos of my latest thrifted finds.

-I also collect owls.

-I really enjoy interior design and my apartment tends to grow with me. I would post photos, but my computer isn't in the best of shape right now and I hope to get my problems fixed soon.

-I love autumn. My favorite time of year. However, I hate what comes after it... winter.

-I love animals. I much prefer adoption to purchasing them from a breeder because I can relate to them more...

Geek stuff:

-I am a huge fan of books. I have books all over my apartment and I'll never have a Kindle. If I own a kindle, it will feel like the magic of books and reading had been lost and it's just not the same. However, they are great for traveling and would make my suitcase lighter... something to think about I guess.

-My favorite shows are 90s sitcoms, south park, The Tudors, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, house MD, Doctor Who, big bang theory, star trek, pretty little liars, once upon a time, law and order svu and several other shows. I much prefer the sci fi and fantasy genre.

-I love 80s and early 90s cartoons.

-I love older anime, but I had been growing out of it in recent years.

-I enjoy technology, new and old.

-I love history. I'm usually on you tube browsing documentaries of ancient world cultures.

-I could spend an entire day in libraries or museums no problem

-it's sad that i prefer vhs tapes to dvds. they seem to last longer...

-I'm a neat freak. sometimes I'm a little obsessive compulsive about it.

-I'm a huge fan of older disney films. The new ones? eehhhh not so much.

-I still have my super nintendo. I intend to hang onto it until it breaks.

-I much prefer Atari, Sega, NES, Super Nintendo and Playstation 2 to consoles of today.

-I'm a huge fan of the sims 3. I play it daily.

-I collect beanie babies. a guilty pleasure

-I hate mainstream pop music. Miley Cyrus, beyonce, britney, justin bieber, selena? no thanks.

-I love alternative rock, classic 80s rock, symphonic and goth metal. The more foreign it is, the better! If I'm in the mood, I will play soft/mellow rock and bluegrass from time to time.

-Ghost World
-Harry Potter
-Thor (i'm looking forward to the 2nd movie that will be in theaters soon)
-Lord of the Rings
-The Princess bride
-classic disney films
-Nightmare before christmas
-Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind
-hocus pocus
-Ten things i hate about you

-Harry Potter
-Lord of the Rings
-The Hunger Games
-Novels by Mercedes Lackey
-The Lovely Bones
-Novels by Stephen King
-Novels by Anne Rice
-Novels by Anne Mcaffrey
-The Outsiders
-Memoirs (girl interrupted is one of my favorites)
-Just about any novel in the fantasy or science fiction genre.

Books I hate...
-50 shades of gray
-Most romance novels. It's just the same recycled plots over and over again, often sending negative messages to women that distorts them from reality.

feel free to add me if you want... new friends are always welcome :)
