I am a longtime LJer, journaling here since 2004. I'm male, 55+, Jewish, a US veteran, and an Oregon resident since 2000 (with a hiatus of a few years when I moved back to San Francisco). If you go to my journal now you'll see I am winding up a series of "retrospective" posts looking back on my life as recorded at LJ.

What I like about LJ is that it provides the space and flexibility of old-school blogging along with the community-building features of social media. (And LJ doesn't manipulate your feed the way fb does.) I like LJ because it's a good place for people who like to read and who like to write.

My interests include books and literature, languages (I studied Korean at DLI many years ago), mathematics and science, Jewish subjects, daily life, and current events. I don't often post about politics, but I do lean conservative politically.

If any of that sounds interesting to you, feel free to add me and I'll be happy to add you back.
